Did you know ...
Poplar Golf Course (PGC) is not your
typical 18 hole golf course. PGC provides a golfing venue
that both satisfies and challenges golfers from every skill
level/background. Despite that, PGC is known as a “short
course” (4200 yards/Par 64 men and Par 66/women)…..par is
not “easy”. Touch and accuracy are the two
attributes that improve most players’ scores at PGC. There
are several par 5s and par 4s mixed in with lots of par 3s
throughout the course. Every time a golfer, despite their
skill level and experience, steps onto a tee box at PGC…par
seems within reach.
In addition to the golf experience at PGC,
most of our regular patrons and new customers describe our
setting as almost “park like”. The Middle River
borders on 6 holes at PGC. The undulating wooded terrain
provides many elevation changes that increase both the
beauty and challenge of the course.
PGC is fortunate to be located just
outside the Lake Superior “Lake Effect Zone”. It is
uncanny how many times in the spring and early summer that
the weather is “drastically” better at PGC than it is in the
Twin Ports of Duluth/Superior. It is no exaggeration when
we say the weather may be as much as 20 to 30 degrees warmer
with sunny skies …. and in the Twin Ports it is foggy and
misty with a lake wind.
PGC has developed a reputation as a
“fun place” to visit. We treat our patrons as friends
and listen to what they have to say. We continue to be
amazed and humbled by the mix of people we attract … where
they come from …. and how often they come back. |
